Baratha natyam is a most traditional dance of Indian cultural.It is one of the oldest and most popular of Indian classical dance.It was originated in states of Tamil Nadu,South India.It is one of the most widely practiced classical dance.It is crated by Barathamuni. It was also called as the 5th Veda. Baratha Natyam is revitalized and redefined contributed of four talented brothers in the first quarter of the nineteenth century."The four famous brothers are Chinnaiya, Ponnaiya, Vadiwelu and Shiwanadan."Managed to organized all the Basic Baratha Natyam movements.

In its beginning Baratha Natyam was performed as dasiattam, by temple devadasis. The dancers knew the Sanskrit and other languages very well,as they had to compose their songs in Sanskrit so that all the audiences could understated their dances and songs. Baratha Natyam was Mainly Performed in the Temple of Lord Shiva in Tamil Nadu.

Another form of the origin of Baratha Natyam was goddess Parvathi. In reality, the Gods and the Goddesses are dancers themselves.Lord Shiva was the supreme dancer himself and Goddess Parvati also used to the dance with him.It was originally Female solo dancer and most performed by women dancer but as we see today man can also perform this dance it is extremely demanding and complex in terms of dedication and daily practice.

Bharatha natyam has undergone a lot of changed over the centuries but is still deeply rooted in The Spiritual Hindu heritage.In Bharata Natyam dancers can be both male and female artist. most people learn Bharata Natyam as hobby, while very few main few people make it as their carry and lifestyle.Most of the contemporary Bharata Natyam  are popularly viewed as form of entertainment.
